In 2004 the Sea Cadets merged with the Marine Society to form the Marine Society & Sea Cadets. In 2006 The Jerwood Foundation made a small grant to the Marine Society & Sea Cadets to secure the training on the TS John Jerwood of 20 cadets from the Willesden branch.

Portrush Sea Cadets ‘manned’, as full crew under training in T.S. JOHN JERWOOD for ten days, commencing on the west coast of Scotland, the Scottish Isles to Carrickfergus, ending on the 20th.
Three of our Male Cadets have just received their offshore power awards on John Jerwood. The course started on the 17th July and finished on the 24th july. All Cadets said they really enjoyed the week and recommend the course to all their friends.

The Jack Petchey is part of the Offshore Fleet of the Sea Cadet Corps, and is used to take 12 Sea Cadets to sea, (2003). Whilst on all of these ships the upkeep is the same, since TS Jack Petchey and TS John Jerwood resemble each other, the voyage upkeep, and payment is similar.
