On 22 March 2017, a terrorist attack took place outside the Palace of Westminster in London, seat of the British Parliament. The attacker, 52-year-old Briton Khalid Masood, drove a car into pedestrians on the pavement along the south side of Westminster Bridge and Bridge Street, injuring more than 50 people, five of them fatally.
The attack sent Westminster into lockdown and MPs were forced to stay put in the House of Commons for more than four hours while the area was made safe. Prime Minister Theresa May had just voted and was standing in members’ lobby with other Tory MPs.

The 43-year-old was leaving work at a school near the Westminster Bridge, where she was a department head and taught Spanish, when she lost her life in the attack, La Voz reported.
